EC Pharos program was approved by the EC in Sep. 2004 and is run under the coordination of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, coordinator: Prof. Ioanna Papayanni. The title of the project is: Holistic strategy for the Preservation, Restoration and Integration in the life of modern societies of Old European Masonry Lighthouses – PHAROS
The project will be benefit to the owners of the lighthouses who are usually the state and in general the society because the project will help in:
- recognizing their cultural values finding the problems,
- classifying them and proposing appropriate repair materials and techniques
- upgrading the lighthouses as attractive cultural tourist areas.
